Gluten Free Bakeries in Israel

Gluten free baking in Israel is more than just a dietary trend; it’s a reflection of the country’s rich tapestry of cultures and its commitment to inclusivity. With a diverse population comprising Jews, Muslims, Christians, and others, Israeli cuisine has always been a melting pot of flavors and influences. From the Mediterranean shores to the bustling markets of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, the culinary landscape is as varied as the people who call this land home.

At the heart of Israeli gluten-free baking lies the reverence for traditional recipes passed down through generations. From savory challah to delicate pastries, bread is deeply ingrained in Jewish culture, symbolizing unity and abundance. However, with an increasing awareness of gluten intolerance and Celiac disease, there’s a growing demand for alternatives that cater to dietary restrictions without compromising on taste or texture.

Baked goods are now available gluten free. They are not only delicious but also nourishing and accessible to all.

Gluten Free Bakeries We Shop At

We live outside of Jerusalem in the Judean Hills. As such many of my recommendations are primarily based in those locations or those easily drivable but in addition to my favorite bakeries I will also include other gluten free bakeries. Some have been that have been recommended to me by family and friends.

Amit Barkat Patisserie עמית ברקת פטיסרי

Located in the Talpiot industrial district the bakery offers a large variety of delectable gluten free treats.

We have enjoyed macaroons torts and sufganiyote to name a few.

English Cake is a franchise but we have only gone to the one in the Gush.

Please note this recommendation is only for Passover.

About a week before Pesach the bakery becomes Kosher for Pesach. While they are kosher for Pesach they have an excellent gluten free pizza, quiches as well as baked goods.

I highly recommend that if you are looking for a quality gluten free products to pack the freezer with this is is the place to go.

Gluten Free Baked Goods at Home

Beyond the walls of professional kitchens, Israeli home cooks are also enthusiastically adopting gluten-free baking. Equipped with recipes and internet tools they’re exploring new and novel methods and tastes that challenge the perception of gluten-free baking. Gluten-free delicacies have become a mainstay on tables across the country. In our home we make banana bread, brownies and cookies substituting the flour for a gluten free variety be it molino or almond flour.
